TTAC at Brandeis University Publishes New Report on PDMP Best Practice Checklist

Prescription drug monitoring programs (PDMPs) are now operational in Guam, the District of Columbia, and all states but Missouri, and established but not yet operational in St. Louis County. Over the past decade, with support from Bureau of Justice Assistance (BJA) and other federal grants, many PDMPs have enhanced their programs to make prescription data more accurate, timely, relevant, and accessible. During this process a number of best and promising practices have been identified, and continue to be identified, many of which PDMPs have adopted to optimize operations and increase their impact.

Integrating and Expanding PDMP Data: Lessons from Nine States

From the PDMP TTAC newsletter: To increase use of PDMPs and to effectively reduce prescription opioid misuse and overdose, the Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration (SAMHSA) funded projects in nine states from fiscal years 2012 to 2016 through its PDMP Electronic Health Records (EHRs) Integration and Interoperability Expansion (PEHRIIE) program. The project states were: Florida, Illinois, Indiana, Kansas, Maine, Ohio, Texas, Washington, and West Virginia.

Alan Turfe to Lead J M Smith Corporation

The Board of Directors of J M Smith Corporation has named A. Alan Turfe as the new CEO and Chairman of the Board, effective March 1, 2017, following the retirement of long-time Chairman and CEO William R. Cobb. Turfe was selected by the board following a nationwide search, and brings a wealth of experience in the life sciences, medical device, e-commerce and automotive industries.

Michael Ziegler Joins FDS, Inc.

FDS, Inc. recently announced that Michael Ziegler has been named Vice President, Product and Client Services. In this role, Ziegler will be responsible for FDS' reconciliation and claims management solutions as well as the EZ-DME Durable Medical Equipment Billing Solution.
