McKesson Pharmacy Systems (MPS) has announced an arrangement with Pharmitas , located in Bellevue, Wash., to offer a module that will allow MPS users to better manage the sale of regulated OTC medications, including pseudoephedrine products as required by the Combat Methamphetamine Epidemic Act of 2005. The new module, Pharmitas Pharmacy Solution, replaces paper logbooks with an electronic data capture and management system that instantly reads the consumer’s identification and product purchase. “There are a growing number of regulated consumer products that do not flow efficiently through the pharmacy workflow and carry unique risks and costs for retailers,” says Tom Michalski, director of product development for MPS. “Our pharmacy customers have requested systems that allow them to spend less time filling out onerous paperwork.” MPS also announced a new partnership with Wolters Kluwer Health that will extend the use of Medi-Span’s drug and clinical information databases to MPS’s newest pharmacy management system, EnterpriseRx. The company has had a long-standing relationship with Medi-Span as its preferred data source. |
