Parata Systems has announced that it has received five additional patents for its pharmacy automation technology, increasing to 24 the number of patents granted for its technology innovations.

The most recent patents protect the company’s new APM technology for self-service prescription refill pickups and the capping mechanism on Parata’s RDS (robotic dispensing system). According to the company, Parata RDS is the only retail pharmacy-dispensing solution capable of capping the vials as a way to protect the integrity of the filled prescription.

The other patents granted protect products Parata acquired from McKesson APS in 2006.
