Version 2.0 of FacilityLink is the second release of this companion product to the company's FrameworkLTC, and is expected to increase the product's acceptance in the marketplace. Currently, about 45% of the facilities that pharmacies serve are using Version 1.0. Many of the new functionalities in Version 2.0 came from user suggestions, according to Tim Hutchinson, SoftWriters' VP.

FacilityLink is a Web-based application, hosted in the pharmacy, that electronically connects a long-term care facility with the pharmacy system. This link provides real-time access to the information in the pharmacy system, as well as a secure communication channel between the two locations.

Version 2.0 has been fine-tuned to allow for sending and receiving categorized, directed, electronic messages. The resident admission process has additional data elements and validations with a more user-friendly interface. There is an easy and concise method of requesting changes to resident profiles, and payer status change capabilities have been enhanced. Facilities will also find order-entry options for drug and non-drug orders and be able to produce invoice data and facility management reports with live, real-time data from the pharmacy system. The printing options of medical records have been expanded as well.
