TDS Adds Patient Messaging to Rx30 | Print |  E-mail

Pharmacies using the Rx30 system from Transaction Data Systems (TDS) will now have access to individualized patient messaging from LDM Group through its CarePoints service. CarePoints provides relevant facts about the medication or condition being treated that can be printed out at the point of dispensing. The pharmacy uses de-identified information about the patient to cross-reference which material to print, making it HIPAA compliant regarding patient privacy.

These messages are sponsored by the drug manufacturers. Chains and independents can also use CarePoints for in-store promotions, such as disease awareness programs. In addition, the service can be used to print required medication guides, saving time from having to manually print each one if required by the drug being dispensed.

Pharmacies within the TDS network can begin store deployment as soon as they are ready to start earning additional revenue. Each store that participates will be given Web site access to manage the CarePoints programs. There is no cost to enroll.

The benefits of the CarePoints service, according to Jim Grady, senior VP for LDM, is that pharmacies can generate additional revenue just by distributing the targeted CarePoints messages to patients picking up their prescriptions.

Steve Wubker, president of TDS, says that he is "pleased to be able to partner with LDM to offer our stores valuable manufacturer rebate opportunities with beneficial direct-to-patient messaging from the Rx30 pharmacy management system." He reports that several stores already using the messaging service are happy with the results.
