Using Speed Script’s hosted, secure virtual private network and software as a service (SaaS), pharmacies are able to communicate with the long-term care facilities they serve without the need to install additional hardware at the facility and with minimal start-up costs.

Once the pharmacy has the Speed Script software and there is a high-speed Internet connection with the LTC facilities, the facilities are ready to transmit changes to patient information. The Speed Script nursing home software notifies the pharmacy when these are available for review and approval, at which time both systems are updated and remain current for the next round of requests. Both the pharmacy management system and the information viewable at the facility are synchronized to provide up-to-date information.

Benefits to the pharmacy include the elimination of re-keying information, phone interruptions, faxes, and emails. The pharmacy can also serve multiple LTC facilities from the same servers.
