Astrup Drug, an 11-store chain doing business in southern Minnesota for 50 years, has turned to ECR Software to automate its unique business model. This includes pharmacies and convenience/fuel and gift shops.

More than 90 terminals were installed over an 18-week period. Astrup used ECRS project management services to install the first three locations, with the remaining sites installed by Astrup’s internal project team.

“This was a remarkably smooth implementation due in large part to an extremely helpful support department, efficient product deployment, and attentive project management. ECRS easily met our tight schedule requirements,” says Sam Ewing, director of operations for Astrup.

ECRS products include point-of-sale (POS) systems, self-checkout systems, multistore inventory management, auto replenishment, EDI supplier integration, pharmacy system integration, warehousing and membership management, fuel pump interfaces, and other retail automation components. “ECRS products are designed to meet the requirements of complex, convergent business models such as that of Astrup Drug,” says Pete Catoe, president of ECRS.
