Outcomes Pharmaceutical Health Care in Des Moines, Iowa, known as Outcomes, will be administering the medication therapy management component of the L.A. Care Health Plan Medicare Advantage HMO. “Through this program, participating pharmacists will receive the necessary training to provide medication therapy management services to the Medicare Advantage members,” says Susan Leong, director of pharmacy and formulary for L.A. Care Health Plan, the largest public health plan in the nation.

One of the new services to eligible members is a comprehensive medication review that involves one-on-one patient meetings with a pharmacist in the area. Other services are patient education, compliance monitoring, and assistance with nonprescription medications.

Outcomes is celebrating its eleventh year as the first medication therapy management company, having opened its doors in January 1999. The company has been a pioneer in using the Internet to connect health plans with pharmacies.
