Measuring the Impact of Short Dispensing Cycles

The CMS requirements for shorter-cycle dispensing in long-term care pharmacy now set to take effect Jan. 1, 2013, have generated a lot of discussion about the potential advantages and disadvantages. This pilot study contributes to this ongoing dialogue by assessing the opportunities shorter cycles may present for lowering Part D medication waste, looking at the impact of different fill cycles across different packaging types.
