Community MTM Services reported that its pharmacy network now exceeds 39,000 members, a doubling of its size in six months. The network consists of independent, chain, long-term care, supermarket, and mass merchandiser pharmacies that represent more than 70% of all the pharmacies in the country. Pharmacies in the network delivered patient care services to more than 44,000 Part D patients during the last six months of 2006. Community Care Rx was one of the first Part D plans to offer face-to-face MTM services. “We believe MTM services are best delivered by community pharmacists,” says Charles Hallberg, CEO of Member Health, plan sponsor for CCRx, the nation’s fourth-largest Part D plan. Hallberg is pleased with the results for the CCRx members in terms of cost savings, better self-care and disease management, and safer use of medications. The CMTM network facilitates the delivery of highly targeted medication management and patient care services. This offers program sponsors access to millions of patients through a high- touch, high-trust channel. Member pharmacies use a secure web-based program to document the services. Through the network, pharmacists can also participate in the delivery of medication compliance programs and clinical trial recruitment. “The increasing number of pharmacies contracting with CMTM and the rapid adoption of our solution into their existing workflow demonstrates that community pharmacy is ready to expand its business model beyond dispensing to include new patient care services,” says Kurt Proctor, COO of CMTM. There is no charge to use the web-based service. Pharmacists can join the network by going to www.communitymtm.com .
