| McKesson’s Health Mart to Offer More |

McKesson Corporation has announced its vision for advancing the future of independent pharmacy through Health Mart, the country’s fastest growing network of independent pharmacies, with innovat- ive enhancements that will be introduced over the next 12 months. These will include a medication adherence network, a medication therapy management (MTM) platform and services, a best-in-class front-end program, and reimbursement optimization services.
Since McKesson announced its plans for Health Mart at the 2006 McKesson Pharmacy Strategies Conference, the network has experienced 400% growth, increasing from 350 to more than 1,500 pharmacies. “Health Mart is not your ordinary pharmacy franchise. It is emerging as an end-to-end platform that is both securing and defining the future of independent pharmacy,” says Stefan Linn, president of Health Mart and senior VP of marketing for McKesson U.S. Pharmaceutical. The company also announced the launch of an MTM pilot program to begin in the fall of 2007 with the Wisconsin Pharmacy Quality Collaborative, a multi-organizational initiative led by the Pharmacy Society of Wisconsin. Pharmacies participating in the pilot that provide MTM services will be reimbursed by a participating payer, creating a new revenue opportunity. Kevin Connor, head of MTM programs and VP of AccessHealth at McKesson, says that McKesson “plans to deliver the industry’s most complete MTM solution to bring together all of a patient’s healthcare providers, helping to shape a new era of pharmaceutical care in which patients can expect a higher degree of service and personalized attention.” |
