| New Wireless E-Signature Capture from Speed Script |
|
A hand-held signature capture device introduced by Speed Script offers pharmacies with drive-through windows and a delivery service a convenient way to capture customer signatures. The device, a wireless PDA, is similar to the wired signature capture devices now being used, but adds flexibility by eliminating the tethered cord. Speed Script software can generate delivery lists and sort these by nursing home, city, specific location, and delivery date and time, all of which are then downloaded to the PDA. The driver can record prescriptions delivered or not delivered and amounts collected, as well as any notes about the delivery. This information is downloaded, along with signatures, when the driver returns to the pharmacy. Pharmacies servicing nursing homes can use the PDA as a delivery manifest. Speed Script has also announced that its latest software version has improved workflow features. One of these is the scanning of the prescription when presented in the pharmacy, displaying the Rx image on the screen for each filling, and again at the point of verification. Another feature provides a new profiling screen that displays the status of all prescriptions for review. E-signatures can be displayed on the screen to see who picked up the prescription, and instead of scrolling through the patient’s profile to find a specific drug, this can now be done through a simple command. According to Speed Script President Ron Davis, the new software takes full advantage of the Linux platform and graphical user interface. |
