Milestone Reached

Innovation, the company behind PharmASSIST, announced that Bi-Rite Quality Pharmacy in La Habra, Calif., has processed approximately 180,000 error-free prescriptions over a three-year period using the company’s Symphony+ system. Bi-Rite fills, on average, 5,000 prescriptions a month through the combined workflow management and counting technology.

I. R. Patel, owner of the pharmacy, says that “in the three years we have not had one drug error, not one misfill, not one customer coming back to say they have the wrong medication.” He also likes the fact that the system is always billing Medi-Cal with the correct NDC of the drug dispensed. “We are always fully compliant because every single prescription we fill goes through the stringent checks and balances of our system and everything is bar coded.”

Innovation also announced that Little Company of Mary Hospital-Torrance of Torrance, Calif., has installed the PharmASSIST ROBOTx and Symphony systems as components of the hospital’s patient safety program. To date the hospital has invested more than $2.5 million in medication dispensing and delivery technology.

To process an average of 200 prescriptions a day, with peaks of 250, the pharmacy uses the Innovation 100-dispenser robotic system that is integrated with the Symphony workflow stations, which integrate with the pharmacy’s HCC pharmacy management system and voiceTech’s IVR system for refill processing.
