The Helix pharmacy system is the latest offering from this 33-year-old, pharmacist-owned software vendor.

The system has new screen layouts with clearly labeled drop-down boxes, tabs, and information grids to increase its appeal to a wide spectrum of customers. During development, emphasis was placed on making the system easy to navigate, so that learning to use it would be faster for new pharmacy staff. RNA users will have the flexibility of using the keyboard, the mouse, or both, when entering data.

Features include a standard workflow module, a vendor-ordering inventory management system, and direct online “chat” with RNA support staff. The system also streamlines the process of correcting data elements from a single screen for common third-party claim rejections such as “refill too soon” and “prior authorization required.” Another feature allows a technician to resolve third-party rejects earlier in the fill process, by filtering out rejects and resubmitting the claims before a pharmacist is involved in the order.
