Parata Supports Haiti Relief Effort

Parata Systems, located in Durham, N.C., has sent two Parata Mini pill-dispensing robots with generators to Haiti to aid in medication dispensing, along with installation and engineering personnel. The Parata equipment represents a $150,000 donation.

In addition, Parata employees have donated essential items, such as medical supplies, clothing, and water, to travel with the dispensing systems to a pharmacy near Port-au-Prince.

“When natural disaster strikes, the demand on caregivers is relentless. Our technology will immediately begin counting and filling prescription vials, so healthcare workers can focus more on patients,” says Tom Rhoads, executive VP of the company.

The company worked with World Vision, a Christian, humanitarian charity organization directly involved in providing relief in the region, to coordinate support.

In late January, three Parata executives were preparing to make the trip to get the Parata Minis up and running and train medical professionals. Check www.computertalk.com for updates on the experience.
