Finding a way to conveniently share information for electronic health records (EHR) between hospitals and physician practices that are using different EHRs is a problem plaguing the healthcare industry. To make the process of “sharing” information faster and easier, Cerner is strengthening its existing Cerner Hub connectivity services by offering Certify Data Systems’ HealthDock.

This is an appliance that allows electronic flow of clinical data securely between hospitals and physician offices, regardless of the EHR system being used. The service enables bidirectional sharing of patient information such as test results, radiology reports, discharge summaries, and other clinical information in real time into a physician’s EHR. In a similar vein, physicians can electronically submit radiology and lab orders directly to the hospital, removing paper requisitions.
