Survey Provides Insights into LTC

QS/1 and the American Society of Consultant Pharmacists (ASCP) have teamed up to conduct the first survey taking a detailed look at the business operation of long-term care (LTC) pharmacy providers. The findings were presented at the opening of the ASCP midyear conference this year in Phoenix, Ariz.

"This survey provides data that will be extremely helpful to pharmacists, pharmacy owners, and managers as they evaluate their productivity, financial statistics, and contracting terms," says John Feather, ASCP CEO.

The survey was done last year and focused on areas such as gross profit margins of long-term care/closed-door pharmacies, pharmacist salaries, Medicare Part A contracting terms, and implementation of technology solutions.

"This report can help long-term care pharmacies see an overall view of how business is being conducted across the nation and adjust their terms and prices accordingly," says Tammy Devine, QS/1 executive VP.

Plans are underway between the two organizations for the 2010 survey.

ASCP members can download a copy of the report at no charge by going to www.ascp.com/business. For nonmembers there is a modest charge.
