| NABP InterConnect To Support PMIX |
|
The National Association of Boards of Pharmacy (NABP), in a partnership with the Bureau of Justice Assistance, has committed to supporting the Prescription Monitoring Information Exchange (PMIX) architecture. NABP has begun to implement the hub-to-hub specification of the architecture to enable sharing of information with any state, without regard to the local technology used. Once completed, this will ensure that all states using NABP InterConnect are fully compliant with the PMIX architecture in order to satisfy federal grant conditions, as well as positioning states to share data more broadly. NABP InterConnect has been in operation since August 2011, and has processed over 400,000 interstate requests for prescription drug data. Nine states are connected to NABP InterConnect, with 10 others planning to sign on. NABP will continue to work with the Alliance of States with Prescription Monitoring Programs and other partners to maintain the PMIX architecture and support development of a certification process to assist states in meeting interoperability and data-sharing goals.
