The Colorado prescription-monitoring program has signed a memorandum of understanding with NABP to participate in the PMP InterConnect program. InterConnect facilitates sharing of data between state prescription-monitoring programs. This sharing is a key element for early detection, intervention, and prevention of substance abuse and diversion of controlled substances.

Colorado joins 10 other states currently sharing data. Since the launch of InterConnect, 800,000 requests have been processed at an average of 5.5 seconds. NABP anticipates that more than 25 states will either be connected or working toward connection in early 2013.
