The annual joint meeting between APhA’s Board of Trustees and executive directors for state pharmacy associations took place earlier this month.

During the gathering, pharmacy leaders in both groups visited with legislators on Capitol Hill in an effort to continue building support for APhA-backed provider status legislation that will recognize pharmacists and their services in Medicare Part B. More than 40 meetings took place over the course of one afternoon where APhA Board members and state executives discussed the important role pharmacists play on the health care team.

Throughout the year, APhA members have continually visited the U.S. Capitol to emphasize APhA’s commitment to advocacy and to move the pharmacists’ “provider status” initiative forward. The timing of these most recent visits was notable as legislators must decide what bills to consider in the final months of the year.
