As the COVID-19 pandemic is progressing, BestRx is working diligently to help pharmacies stay safe, while providing the best care to their patients. In the last few weeks, we have rolled out a few features in response to the pandemic.

Telehealth For Pharmacy

Between social distancing and patients requesting delivery or express pickup, we wanted to offer our pharmacies (and their patients) the opportunity to still have face-to-face counseling via televideo. We have rolled out a semi-integrated Telehealth option in BestRx, utilizing the HIPAA secured platform Doxy to provide this service. Within BestRx we will provide buttons that will allow the pharmacy to send a text or email to invite a patient into a virtual waiting room, where they can then start a telecounseling session with them.

Pharmacies Request Payment By Text Or Email

Amidst the virus growing and spreading, many stores have shifted to delivery only and/or express pickup models during this time. This can make it difficult to properly take payment for the prescription and OTC items they are providing. That is why we have added an online payment option to the BestPOS system. After ringing up a transaction, pharmacies will be able to send a text or email to the patient that provides them with a link to a secure payment page. From the safety of their home the patient will be able to enter in their payment information, request pickup or delivery, and sign for their prescriptions. Their payment is securely processed and the information is synced back to the BestPOS system at the pharmacy.

Removing E-Signature Requirements

Additionally, we have added a setting in the BestPOS program that will allow pharmacies to disable the requirement for an e-signature when processing credit and FSA cards. The CDC recommends against capturing payment card signatures at this time to help prevent the spread of the virus, and all of the major credit card companies stopped requiring signatures back in April of 2018.

Pharmacy Delivery And Mail Order A Cornerstone

Finally, now is a good time to remind pharmacies that offering delivery or mail-order services is becoming a cornerstone of pharmacy today. Not only has COVID-19 brought this to the forefront, prior to the crisis, consumers are used to having everything delivered to them from food and household products to shoes and electronics. Not offering delivery or mail-order services can be detrimental to the growth and long-term success of retail independent pharmacy. BestRx offers a robust and easy-to-use Mobile Delivery App that is Cloud-based in order to facilitate deliveries of not only prescriptions but also over-the-counter products as well. For those pharmacies who do not want to manage their own delivery drivers, we are also integrated with delivery services such as ScriptDrop, UDS, and iOmni. Finally, BestRx integrates with FedEx and UPS to support those pharmacies that have a mail-order component to their business.
